I always have trouble with military conflicts in this universe. Thanks to prior Paragons, both the Korean and Viet Nam wars were won by the US and politics were VERY different from that point forward. Gifted people took center stage starting with WWII and created a different kind of cold war. I didn’t want to “invent” a conflict for Desert Fox, and at one point I had it be Iraq in the Our Super Mom comic. Drifting too far makes modern references seeker, so I went with Afghanistan. I keep such stuff in the deep background, because it doesn’t matter to the comic, and I dwell too much on politics in the novels – a big boring weakness in hindsight.
