This was a big deal in the novels. And touched on in Our Super Mom.

Not only are you correct, but as the only true flyer in this verse, she’s an exception problem to every rule. Flying international is worse, given her radar footprint is more like a missle than a plane.

Our editor calculated it taking 8.09 minutes from our semi fictional columbus location to the real location in Cincinnati. I pointed out she can’t navigate the last few miles at that speed, so she’d slow down. Add in all the communication I estimate 30 min between decision to call and arrival - if she leaves immediately.

Woo! There's a shock cone! That means it's time for Maths!
You can actually measure how many Mach something is traveling at by looking at the angle of the shock cone, and Mach 1 is actually just a disk around the point that is hitting Mach 1 (the fact that the air also has to move out of the way of the object means that you can actually get a shock cone around a sub sonic object - it's what's known as trans-sonic speeds). The lower the speed the bigger the change of angle for the same speed change, and if I plug in the rough measurement of a 133° point to the cone it seems that Paragon is actually going at about Mach 1.09. Nice to see that she's sticking pretty close to the actual speed she gave!
