    He pulled a gun. He chose risking the ruination of lives. That it was his own is the second-best possible outcome after “none”.

    Still awful. Still terrible and deeply scarring for a good person to have done. The facts don’t change the feeling for someone who wants to save people.

    Probably doesn’t even help to point out how learning that lesson (how hard to hit) could have been SO SO SO much worse.

    Yes, but at that point he was disarmed and no danger to anybody. That would certainly be counted as police brutality and unnecessary force.

      She wasn’t a police officer at the time, so police brutality is not appropriate. In Canada, she could be facing Excessive Use of Force, which carries similar penalties to Assault.

    When you commit a crime with a gun, you take a chance with your life. If this kid had succeeded, this act would have become a prior before long. A busted jaw is better than being on a slab in the ME’s office.
